We are so excited to open the next campus within Murfreesboro City Schools in August of 2014! Overall Creek Elementary’s (OCE) building design and location make the environment for learning unique and opens many doors for student learning and exploration.
The two story, 138,000 square foot facility houses up to 1000 students, Kindergarten-6th grade. Kindergarten and first grade will be located on the first floor. Some 2nd grade and 3rd grade classrooms, located on the second floor, will have a “porch-like” view of Overall Creek from their windows!
OCE has an environmental focus utilizing the creek, technology, and local partnerships to extend student learning and bring the outdoors back to everyday experiences. Our plans include various learning stations situated along the creek such as nature trails that have learning centers along the pathways, wildflower gardens, vegetable gardens, bird feeding and monitoring, creek observations, forest stages, wildlife monitoring, seasonal changes on the environment, conservation, and human effects on the local environment. We are working with local companies, as well as multiple departments from MTSU, on proper ways to recycle and education about conservation. Additionally, all 6th grade students will have the opportunity to attend the annual environmental educational field trip to Land Between The Lakes for an extended stay trip!
Overall Creek classrooms feature the latest technology, literally at our “fingertips”. The classrooms have large interactive boards that utilize the latest in touch-point software (multi-touchscreen, 65" flat panel). Each classroom also has a Ladibug document camera that has multiple functions to create a hands-on, more personal learning experience for our students. The café sports an enhanced design and furniture that creates a more pleasurable dining experience. In addition, OCE serves free breakfast in the classrooms each morning.
Finally, our ESP (PRIDE) program serves children and families from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm during the week, select days when school is out and throughout the summer.
There are so many fantastic features about Overall Creek Elementary. Please feel free to email Principal Don Bartch ( or call 615-624-5500 for further information. We hope you will join us and our mascot, Ollie the Otter for your child's educational journey!
